- Hopey and Wyatt Winter 08. Wyatt used to seem very large. He may be large for his age, but he is now trying so hard to walk. So he looks very small for someone trying to walk. And he does not so much walk, as plummet. But he does crawl pretty well now. Hope continues to test limits of her abilities and our patience. She is pretty quotable nowadays, so we’ve started keeping track of her more memorable ones (see below). Wyatt’s quotes are mainly pterodactyl screams, which don’t translate well to the printed page.

- Snuggle Puppy. A brief movie of Dad, Hope and Wyatt mistreating the piano.
- Hope and Wyatt Fall 08.
- Wyatt is still big and smiley. He saw some babies crawling so he taught himself how to roll onto his tummy in a day and has been working really hard to crawl. He’s just not ready muscle-wise and he gets so angry. He starts baby-cursing and yelling.
- Hope has started preschool proper (she was in “transitional” preschool last year) and is just eating up being around the new older kids. She had her 3 year checkup the other day and was nervous about it (worried about shots I think). She was pretty quiet while the doctor and I chatted about her, going down the questionnaire. Around the time we got to the “Does your child ever speak complete sentences?” item, Hope got up her courage and said, “Excuse me, where is your stethoscope?” The doctor cracked up.
- Hope and I were talking about animal legs. She then said “A tree only has ONE leg!” which was pretty clever and we had a laugh about it. I said “That’s silly, did you ever see a tree walk?” Hope replied, “A tree has to HOP!” She’s a little comedian.
- Hope and Wyatt More Summer 08. Hope has gotten the hang of being a big sister and is dealing with it pretty well. Wyatt has gotten the hang of eating and is now a child of enormous magnitude. He’s off the charts in weight and height. He smiles and laughs and is generally pretty fun to have around. He sometimes needs some help napping, so his dad will hold him while doing some Nia exercises. He then sleeps. It all works out.
- Hope and Wyatt Summer 08. Wyatt Li-Yan Hsu is here! Hopey’s birth was a real odyssey. In contrast, Ellen felt Wyatt’s contractions get serious around 2:30am, then she woke Eric up at 6:30am, who drove them at high, but safe, speeds to Walnut Creek, where they were admitted to a room at 7:30am, and Wyatt popped out at 8:30am after a very intense hour of labor.
